Of Dreams and Passions

I dreamt, and I live my dream today. Reality is wrong.

Dreams are real. With Tupac’s mind today I’m strong.
Deep into that darkness peering, I stood there long
wondering, fearing, dreaming dreams no mortal
ever dared to dream before (then gave up the dreams I had)
to follow my passion, dream differently, fell to a different slumber, different dreams
And became an author, poet and well, ceaseless rambler of love and life.

Have a sneak preview of my article published on The Standard’s County Life magazine’s Literary Discourse column.

Dreamers have been around as the universe
Things dreamed of coming to pass, others not
And so did Martin Luther King, Jr.
Give the world the masterpiece of dream.

Jack Kerouac chirps, All human beings are also dream beings
Dreaming ties mankind together (ethereal or not)
There are those who look at things the way they are
and ask why… I dream of things that never were
and ask why not; Robert Kennedy’s wisdom.

We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams
come into reality (and cross the streams)
It takes an awful lot of determination, dedication
self-discipline and effort, the brains of Jesse Owens.

All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.
Walt Disney

Deaths of Right (Part II)

Take care of my children. His voice never left me. There were nights that I dreamed in such vivid detail that when I woke, I was confused, forgetting, for a fraction of a second, that I was in my bed. For the minutes that followed, the grief washed over me for the loss of a friend who had had my back, the uselessness of my life fighting for the imperialism of a country that didn’t care for me. Part of me wondered if the dreams would change, if one day they would be the same monochrome shadows of before Somalia.
